Prediction of arsenic accumulation in a calcareous soil-wheat/maize rotation system with continuous amendment of sewage sludge

چکیده
A potted experiment was conducted to explore the accumulation of arsenic (As) and predict uptake As by a wheat-maize rotation system in calcareous soil with different rates sewage sludge (SS) amendment over two consecutive years. The SS decreased pH value but increased cation exchange capacity (CEC), calcium carbonate (CC), organic carbon (OC) crops increasing addition. bioconcentration factor (BCF) wheat maize had significant negative correlation pH, CC positive OC. Soil CEC only BCF wheat. Regression analysis showed that As, OC, were good predictors concentration wheat/maize. regression model for each part wheat/maize plants high efficiency explained 67~88% variability. R2 values grain prediction models 79% 76%, respectively. Thus, these contribute study risk assessment utilisation soil-wheat/maize systems.

Soil Amendment with Sewage Sludge and Its Impact on Soil Microflora
The objective of this work was to verify the effect of frequent sludge soil amendments on the soil’s activity and microbial biomass C. Results showed that the use of excessive sludge doses could be detrimental to the soil’s microflora.
متن کاملNutrients and Heavy Metals in Biochar Produced by Sewage Sludge Pyrolysis: Its Application in Soil Amendment
The production of sewage sludge has been sharply increasing by municipal sludge treatment plants in China. Sewage sludge is a difficult waste to manage not only due to the high quantities produced but also due to its high concentration of heavy metals and pathogens. The pyrolytic conversion of sewage sludge to biochar and then applied to the land is a sustainable management potion. Therefore, t...

متن کاملEffects of Sewage Sludge and Chemical Fertilizers on Pb and Cd Accumulation in Fenugreek (Trigonella gracum)
Background: Reprocessing of sewage sludge to agricultural land is preferred to disposal through landfill or incineration due to its potentially beneficial effects on soil fertility from organic matter and plant nutrients, such as N and P, present in the sludge. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the impact of sewage sludge and chemical fertilizers on Pb and Cd accumulation in ...
متن کامل2 Effects of medium - term amendment with sewage 3 sludge on soil organic fertility and on heavy metal 4 bioavailability
The biomass fraction of processed municipal and industrial wastes added to soil can 10 maintain, and in some case improve, the soil’s organic fertility. One of the main constraints in the 11 agricultural use of the sewage sludge is its content of heavy metals. In the long term, soil 12 administration of sewage sludge in agriculture could result in a risk of environmental impact. The 13 aim of t...
